On April 13th 2019, TomTom challenged three local chefs to create their interpretation of "Hometown Staples: Southern Favorites" using only local ingredients. The secret ingredient of Champion brewery beer was announced right before the competition and had to be incorporated into the dish.
With only a $60 budget and 30 minutes to create a dish, our very own executive chef, Kathryn Matthews, created a dish of beer biscuits, with a rabbit chèvre and trio of mushroom gravy. The dish was finished with honey-glazed carrots and watercress salad.
After presenting her dish to a panel of three judges, an unanimous decision was made and Kathryn and her dish was awarded TOMTOM 2019 Iron Chef Award. Congratulations Kathryn!
